We are quite a long way from Scotland. About ten hours by road. I think it would be about four hundred miles. Yes it is very mountainous here as the second highest mountain in Wales isn’t that far from us. I think it is about three thousand foot high which I guess isn’t that high for you in America but it is here. Love emma

When I went to the school for the blind, it wasn't easy for a few years. my hearing impaired was not discovered until I was 8. Before that, I failed typing 3 years running, could not read or spell.

I enjwithed high school which had a resource unit for the blind. We did classes with the other kids but had some times in the unit.

My problems were still there though. I had to work twice as hard to keep up as I couldn't take notes in class and hear the teacher at the same time. I also had no friends so again, spent breaks alone. I just couldn't hear the conversations.

Year 12 it all came to a head. I couldn't cope with the work and my teachers were getting frustrated. But one did ask what was wrong and managed to get my notes on disc for me for every class. That helped a lot.

Well I’m quite independent too but my mum helps me out when I need it. Like with checking clothes are clean and dealing with hot food. I do the prep and the cleaning up and leave the dangerous stuff to her. Love emma

Hi Don, every
I don't sign at all. I use speech still, but braille for email/texts etc as I find voiceover quite slow. Although with my new hearing aids, I can do a bit better using it if I need too. But braille is faster for me.

Most of the time I cook, but rarely get pizza. I get curry, Chinese or fish and chips usually.

Today has been very very unproductive. listened to church online, had lunch and am now just relaxing reading email. I haven't even got dressed yet!

Tonight is another takeaway, almost unheard of having 2 in one week, but I just can't be bothered cooking. I didn't get to sleep until 3 am so am feeling prety tired and unmotivated.

Back to work tomorrow to organize the promotion of several courses for the week.

We did classes with the other kids but had some times in the unit. My problems were still there though. I had to work twice as hard to keep up as I couldn't take notes in class and hear the teacher at the same time. I also had no friends so again, spent breaks alone. I just couldn't hear the conversations. Year 12 it all came to a head. I couldn't cope with the work and my teachers were getting frustrated. But one did ask what was wrong and managed to get my notes on disc for me for every class. That helped a lot. I use speech still, but braille for email/texts etc as I find voiceover quite slow. Although with my new hearing aids, I can do a bit better using it if I need too. But braille is faster for me. Most of the time I cook, but rarely get pizza. I get curry, Chinese or fish and chips usually.
