Hi Don, every
I don't sign at all. I use speech still, but braille for email/texts etc as I find voiceover quite slow. Although with my new hearing aids, I can do a bit better using it if I need too. But braille is faster for me.
Most of the time I cook, but rarely get pizza. I get curry, Chinese or fish and chips usually.

I don't sign at all. I use speech still, but braille for email/texts etc as I find voiceover quite slow. Although with my new hearing aids, I can do a bit better using it if I need too. But braille is faster for me.
Most of the time I cook, but rarely get pizza. I get curry, Chinese or fish and chips usually.

Hi Don, every
I don't sign at all. I use speech still, but braille for email/texts etc as I find voiceover quite slow. Although with my new hearing aids, I can do a bit better using it if I need too. But braille is faster for me.
Most of the time I cook, but rarely get pizza. I get curry, Chinese or fish and chips usually.

When I went to the school for the blind, it wasn't easy for a few years. my hearing impaired was not discovered until I was 8. Before that, I failed typing 3 years running, could not read or spell.
Even after hearing aids, I still had issues. I started speech therapy, but it was still hard.
I finally could read age 9,5 and after that, I got ij percent or more with typing, since I could read it from the braille.
It was not long after that I was mainstreamed with the other kids.
Going from 6 to 26 in a class was overwhelming. Also, because I was behind in all subjects, that too was overwhelming.
I had no friends, and would spend my days reading books, and later practicing the piano. Those were the bthings that kept me sane.
I enjwithed high school which had a resource unit for the blind. We did classes with the other kids but had some times in the unit.
My problems were still there though. I had to work twice as hard to keep up as I couldn't take notes in class and hear the teacher at the same time. I also had no friends so again, spent breaks alone. I just couldn't hear the conversations.
Year 12 it all came to a head. I couldn't cope with the work and my teachers were getting frustrated. But one did ask what was wrong and managed to get my notes on disc for me for every class. That helped a lot.

Year 12 it all came to a head. I couldn't cope with the work and my teachers were getting frustrated. But one did ask what was wrong and managed to get my notes on disc for me for every class. That helped a lot.

I don't sign at all. I use speech still, but braille for email/texts etc as I find voiceover quite slow. Although with my new hearing aids, I can do a bit better using it if I need too. But braille is faster for me.
Most of the time I cook, but rarely get pizza. I get curry, Chinese or fish and chips usually.

I don't sign at all. I use speech still, but braille for email/texts etc as I find voiceover quite slow. Although with my new hearing aids, I can do a bit better using it if I need too. But braille is faster for me.
Most of the time I cook, but rarely get pizza. I get curry, Chinese or fish and chips usually.

When I went to the school for the blind, it wasn't easy for a few years. my hearing impaired was not discovered until I was 8. Before that, I failed typing 3 years running, could not read or spell.
Even after hearing aids, I still had issues. I started speech therapy, but it was still hard.
I finally could read age 9,5 and after that, I got ij percent or more with typing, since I could read it from the braille.
It was not long after that I was mainstreamed with the other kids.
Going from 6 to 26 in a class was overwhelming. Also, because I was behind in all subjects, that too was overwhelming.
I had no friends, and would spend my days reading books, and later practicing the piano. Those were the bthings that kept me sane.
I enjwithed high school which had a resource unit for the blind. We did classes with the other kids but had some times in the unit.
My problems were still there though. I had to work twice as hard to keep up as I couldn't take notes in class and hear the teacher at the same time. I also had no friends so again, spent breaks alone. I just couldn't hear the conversations.
Year 12 it all came to a head. I couldn't cope with the work and my teachers were getting frustrated. But one did ask what was wrong and managed to get my notes on disc for me for every class. That helped a lot.
